Swissauto WENKO AG - Is a design company. They worked on the design of the Weber MPE 750. Weber is a separate manufacturing company.

Here's what I got from Swissauto's web page.....

Swissauto WENKO AG is a swiss based company with the core competence in development, prototyping and manufacturing of internal combustion engines and charging devices various kinds.
Many years of experience with downsized and high supercharged gasoline engines as well as various activities in Automotive and Motorcycle - racing grants for the technical background of the company.

The core competence of the company includes the following activities:
Design and development of internal combustion engines

Design, development and optimizing of charging systems and devices
Mapping of supercharging devices on our Hot cell test rigs

Polaris purchased SWISS AUTO, not Weber...
Swiss Auto was contracted by Weber to do the initial development/ testing / set-up of the Weber engine. Weber corp. is a huge company that manufactures engine blocks, crankshafts, valves, heads .etc for VW, Porsche, Audi, Chevrolet, etc.. The MPE 750 engine is a very small portion of their operation.. But they aren’t selling....

Polaris made a smart move by purchasing Swiss Auto (which is a small division of a larger corporation) as they are buying a division that has the knowledge to build a world class four stroke engine.. It will NOT be the Weber engine.. Most likely it will be very sophisticated and reliable, as Swiss Auto has excellent credentials..

This will not change anything at Weber, it just gives Polaris a sophisticated engine builder in their corner, as no manufacturer wants to purchase their engines from an outside source.. They need to be able to control production and design changes as needed..

This story is very similar to the tale that HSR bought Benelli... NOT TRUE.. The bought a division of Benelli only.. This also is a very smart move for the same reasons.. They are purchasing four stroke knowledge, engineers and possibly patents for their own company. (See this link for more info) Hydrospace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think this is great for our industry, as we will see more performance orientated four strokes, not some poorly performing Chinese knock-offs..

Sorry for the long post..

Thanks weber850! Swiss Auto will be very good for Polaris. We might see a turbo RZR engine from this.
