Default New 12" fan kit

The 2009 Revolt has one change to it, I like. A 12" radiator fan, instead of a 10".
I've had the Over-Temp light come one once or twice. This will cause the ECM to go into limp mode. It retards the timing and enriches the air/fuel mixture.
If you keep going it will shut down the engine.
I had Red Rock Rails get me the kit. It includes the shroud and 12" fan.
The shroud is removed by drilling out the pop rivets.

After a trip to Lowes for rivets, it was back in.

Test Drive:
I went for a ride, in the hills above my home. The thin air doesn't cool as well, so if I push it hard enough, it should over temp. At first I thought the fan wasn't coming on, because I couldn't hear it. But it never went into over temp.
I finally stopped, got out, and held the throttle at 4000 rpm and watched for the fan to come on. It came on and it's so quiet, that I couldn't hear it over the engine noise. It moves a lot of air!

I'll test it at the dunes next week.

That looks good! A 2" increase in diameter give you a huge increase in fan area. 78.5sq." vs. 113sq."

Hey Redline owners,

For those of you that wonder what the temp is when the water temp light begins to flash in your tach, it is 212 degrees. When your engine reaches 220 degrees your engine will shut down completely to protect itself. Bearfoot is correct in stating that the engine will begin protection measures as soon as the light starts blink and you will lose performance.

Update:
I ran the Dunes at Sand Hollow, with the new fan set up. It was 101F that day. I was running my new Paddle tires, so the engine was working hard. The sand was dry and soft.
No warning lights or problems. My Temperature gauge was between 160F to 195F.
The new fan is very quiet. When it came on I could watch the gauge drop to 160F, then the fan shuts off.
I'll be at the Little Sahara Sand Dunes, on July 13. Air temp's should be in the low 90's. I'll report back on how it worked out.

You have a temp gauge? Did you add it? And if so, what/how did you do it?

Thanks. If you haven't posted it already, maybe post up a seperate how to?
