Talking Supper Trap Exhaust

Here is the exhaust system we just put together. We used a supper trap type exhaust muffler. The mid pipe was cut off just behind the loops for the springs and we welded a piece of 2 inch with a slight bend in it's place. Bent some mounts out of quater inch aluminum stock and mounted it up. We used a stainless band clamp at the slip joint. The length of the y pipe and mid pipe is 32 inches with the entire system to the end of the muffler at 42 inches. We have 12 disks in the supper trap. We will experiment with the number of disks when we get to St. Anthony dunes in two weeks. It sounds sweet!!!!!!

Hey Scott,

That is a clean install. It gives a new look to the back of the car.

Looks similar. but my runner up to the exhaust is WAY shorter. Some have said mine will fall on it's face on the upper end. Suggested a longer runner. I plan to run mine this Sunday. I will report what I find.

Please be sure to report back how your setup worked for you so we can compare notes.

thanks.

Smile Re: Supper Trap Exhaust

Here is an update on the exhaust system. There was definitely improved throttle response and noticeably more power through the mid range up to 7500 rpm. The motor did top out at about 8000 rpm with no drop off in power. Over all the performance of the engine with the super traps was awsome. Now the down side.... They are way tooooo loud!!!! I had to use ear plugs just to be able to handle the noise. Also we had more than a few comments about how loud the cars were. There is no doubt that they exceed the 93 db limit of the Oregon Dunes. We are in the process of fabricating custom headers for the revolt. They will be 1 5/8 inch tubing, two into one collector with a 2 inch outlet from the collector. We are going to turn down out of the collector with and 18 inch long super trap with a partially shrouded 4 inch outlet. The outlet will point toward the ground. Hopefully this will quiet it down with even better flow than the stock y pipe and mid pipe. They should be done be next week. I will post pictures

When I was going through designs for my exhaust, I ran into the same problem.
